Cranhill Community Project

Netherlee has a long history of supporting Cranhill Community Project through funding, volunteers and goods.
The project was developed by Cranhill Parish Church to provide local support in an area of great social deprivation. It is a multi-faith project, working with the local community and asylum seeker populations. Operating from the Church, one of the project’s main aims is to build a purpose built community centre to provide services and support for the community.
One of the biggest successes is the Community Café, run by a team of dedicated volunteers. While a great place to meet, its main aim is to encourage affordable, healthy eating as Cranhill, like much of Glasgow, has a poor health record.
Visitors, and volunteers, are always welcome at Cranhill, where you can enjoy:
• Community Café. Open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3pm
• English Classes for asylum seekers. 5 classes per week with crèche facilities.
• Citizens Advice Bureau – a drop in advice clinic.
• Nearly New Shop – second hand goods and clothes every Monday 10am- 1pm
• The Wise Group – Lone Parent support on employment issues
• Meeting facilities (with catering)
